Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
